Description	View of New London from Fort Griswold. The Thames River runs the length of the scene. Several large sailing vessels are on the water, including the "America." Steamboats are named "Cricket" "Mohegan" "Water Lily, "Chicopee" and "Connecticut". On the bottom left corner is Fort Griswold with three cannons and a pile of cannonballs. The roads on the Groton banks of the river are lined with stone, and there are cows in a pasture adjacent to the fort. The Shoreline Railroad crosses over the water on a bridge at the left. Located to the left of the train is Fort Trumbull. Several churches are visible. On the right side the New London Northern Railroad crosses the river on a bridge. Along the New London side of the river, docks jut out, and several boats are docked. Trees obscure many of the buildings.
