Description	Steam ferry boat Gildersleeve docked at the Hartford shore. A man stands at the wheel on the top deck. Several men are on the boat and on shore. Most bear bowler hats. One has a bicycle. Small row boats are at the edge of the dock. A barge is in the left background. Note on back: "Boat Hartford (Ferry Street) & E. Hartford / after Bulkeley Bridge [sic] burned."<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. <br>The Gildersleeve was built at Portland in 1887 for service between Portland and Middletown, was used to provide transportation between Hartford and East Hartford after the covered bridge across the Connecticut River between those two towns was destroyed by fire in 1895, and remained in service until 1901. <br>
