Description	Parade floats in the shape of an oil well and a mantle clock. The float at the left has signs that read: "Drake's Folly" "First Oil Well in 1859, Sponsored by the Rackliffe Oil Co." Crowds of men, women and children line the sidewalks on both sides of the street. Banners hang from utility poles. The brick building is St. Peter's convent. Inscribed on back: "First oil well Rackliff Oil Co. / N[ew?] B[ritain?] / & Seth Thomas Clock / Tercentenary Parade / Oct. 12, 1935.<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. <br>The Sisters of Mercy lived at St. Peter's Convent, 188 Main Street, Hartford. <br>Hartford celebrated the 300th anniversary of the founding of Connecticut with a parade on October 12, 1935. It included 20,000 marchers, 105 floats, 12 large divisions, 30 bands, over 500 separate organizations and 20 national groups. It was watched by 400,000 people and took 3 hours to pass by. <br>
