Description	One-and-a-half-story stone gambrel roofed house with two dormer windows in the roof. The house is cover in Ivy. A signpost by the door reads "Old 1751 Huguenot Tea House". Another sign on the roof reads "Huguenot, dine, lunch, tea."
Notes	The house was built for Nathaniel Hempsted, perhaps a little latter than 1751. Other more recent sources gives dates closer to the end of the decade, perhaps 1759. The houses moniker of "Huguenot" originates from a local legend that the unusual stone construction was the work of Huguenot builders. Lack of evidence of Huguenots in the New London area makes it more likely that the masons were Acadians expelled by the British from Canada in the late 1750s. Title from photograph verso.
