Description	Granite grave monument of Jeremiah G. Brainard and marble gravestone of John C.G. Brainard. The writing on the stones is largely illegible. Other tombstones are nearby. The harbor at the mouth of the Thames River and the Groton shore are visible in the background. Inscribed beneath image: "Monument of Jeremiah G. Brainard and John G.C. Brainard in New London."<br>
Notes	John G.C. Brainard, son of Jeremiah G. Brainard, was editor of the Connecticut Mirror in Hartford. He died of tuberculosis on September 26, 1828, aged 32. <br>Jeremiah G. Brainard, a judge of the superior court, was educated at Yale College and practiced law in New London. He died January 14, 1830, aged 70. <br>
