Description	Brownstone bank building has a sculptured stone beehive above the front entrance. A sign on the door reads: "Removed / to 803 Main Street." Signs on the commercial block at the left read: "H.C. Marquardt / Real Estate and Fire Ins[urance]" "Money / To Loan..." "Tenement / to / Rent" "... McLellan & Col" "[He]nry Antz." A striped pole indicates the presence of a barbershop. Two men stand at the entrance to a store. Oval framed pictures are displayed in a shop window. Three potted plants are on the sidewalk near a fire hydrant. Inscribed beneath image: "State Saving Bank / Pearl Street."<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. <br>According to a newspaper clipping on the back of the photograph, the State Savings Bank was incorporated in 1858 and soon afterwards leased quarters in the old Hall of Records on Pearl Street. In 1869 the bank purchased the property where it remained until 1914 when it moved to the Phoenix Bank Building at 803 Main Street. The Pearl Street building was to be torn down in 1921. <br>
