Description	Dilapidated two-story frame center-chimney Colonial house is situated in a grassy lawn surrounded by large trees. The tree at the right is an elm. The trees at the left appear to be fruit trees, probably apple trees. Cornstalks are in a field nearby. Outbuildings, probably a barn and shed, are at the left. Inscribed on back: "Wethersfield [sic] / Beckley Homestead 1658 / Beckley Quarter."<br>
Notes	Sergeant Richard Beckley obtained his land on the Mattabeseck River from the Native American Terramuggus and was the only white settler in the area for sixteen years. His grant was confirmed by the General Court in 1670-1671. Although at that time his property was considered part of Wethersfield, it was incorporated as part of Berlin in 1785. <br>Title supplied by cataloger. <br>
