Description	Stone building in the Second Empire style has a mansard roof, arched windows framed by pilasters and a square domed tower. Utility poles, probably telegraph poles, are at left and right. An iron fence and a paved sidewalk surround a grassy lawn. A dirt street is in the foreground with a horse-drawn wagon at the left and a trolley car at the right. The Old State House is visible behind the post office at the left. Structures on State Street in the background include a Greek revival building and a brick building with awnings and a sign that reads: "Connecticut Courant." Inscribed beneath image: "Post Office / State Street on the right / This picture was taken on the Central Row side of / the PostOffice showing a glimpse of the Old State House."<br>
Notes	The Government Building in City Hall Square housing the Post Office was begun in 1873 and completed in 1883. <br>
