Description	Light brown leather boots, now darkened, lace up the front and have a blunt toe and low heel. Above the ankle, the boots have three straps that buckle over the lacing. The laces are narrow strips of leather. A strip of matching leather is sewn up the back seam and finished with a loop, to aid in pulling the boots on. The toe cap has decorative punch work along the seam.<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger.<br>These boots were originally owned by George Wells Cheney, Sr. (1888-1965) of Manchester, a veteran of the Mexican Border War of 1916. When the United States entered World War I, he was commissioned a first lieutenant with the 101st Machine Gun Battalion of the 26th Division, serving on three fronts in France.<br>Gift of George W.
