Description	Writing tables with chairs are along the back wall of a room in the Store Door Canteen. Papers and lamps are on the tables. A painted cartoon mural with three separate panels is at the top of the wall. The panel at the left depicts three men wearing suits standing beside a light post, singing. Musical notes are nearby. A caption beneath reads: "The Old Gang". The middle panel depicts a man in an army uniform consisting of a jacket and hat. He appears to be writing a letter. The word "Dear" is on a piece of paper and a question mark is above his head with several girls' names. The panel on the right depicts an elderly woman wearing an apron and holding a pie. The caption reads: "Don't forget to write Mom." Typewritten on back: "Writting [sic] tables at Sage Allen's Store / Door Canteen. Hartford, Conn."<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger.<br>The Store Door Canteen in the Sage-Allen department store had several cartoon drawings on the walls depicting military life. Vignettes include entering the service and KP duty. Army, navy, and marines all appear to be represented.<br>Charles W. Ainsworth took this photograph while serving in the Army Recruiting Station in Hartford during World War II.<br>
