Description	An elderly man with a beard is seated in a wooden chair on a grassy lawn. A cane is beside him. An elderly woman in a print dress is at the right. The frame house in the background is partially obscured by trees. A wooden box, possibly a mailbox, is on a post near the picket fence at the right. A grindstone is near the picket fence at the left. Lumber leans against a shed or outhouse in the left background.A dirt road is in the foreground. Typewritten inscription on back: "Charles H. Johnson was born December 17 1846 / Enlested [sic] September 8 1862 & was discharge June 13 1865 the wor [sic] was over. / Thomaston Conn. Novenber 20 1909 / Mr. A.A. was lade [sic] to rest November 20 1909 / he was 81 years Years old / Betsey M. Curtiss his hous [sic] Keeper is 72 Years old. / Y in the year of 1910 Went to Wattertown [sic] to live with her brother / Her brother Wallis how had stade with Mr. Morse to. Also went to Wattertown / This was given to Charles H. Johnson / In the Year of 1907 / By Mr. Morse, I worket [sic] on the Wigwom [sic] Dam in tomaston [sic] / Started to work with two teames July 20eth (99) Mr. Mors was a nice Man / I keap my Horses in his Barn. Rastas Bates drove one team for me. Worked thair [sic] until Delember [sic] 8 1901 then went to Baderson New York. Stade thair until July 7 1902 & then come hone [sic] to Southington Conn. / In the Year of 1910 I am living in the hous I was born in & I am not feeling very good trubble [sic] with me Breathing."<br>
