Description	A steam pumper is being used to pump water from a fire hydrant on a church with Corinthian columns and pilasters, a clock and a steeple with balustrades and urns. A man standing behind the iron fence directs water from a hose on the building. Ladders lean against the cornice. Some firemen are on the roof. Horse-drawn hook-and-ladder wagons are in the foreground. Another wagon is at the far right. Spectators stand in the foreground and on the sidewalk near two street lamps. One woman uses an umbrella as a parasol. Smoke issues from the roof of the building and from the boiler of the steam fire engine. Inscribed beneath image: "South Congregational Church - Main and Buckingham Streets - 1885." Inscribed on back: "South Congregation Church / Main & Buckingham Sts. / 1885."<br>
