Description	Group of men and a woman pose on the sidewalk in front of a frame commercial building. The woman and some of the men wear aprons. Some men have beards or mustaches. Signs read: "Market. Confectionery." "341 J.P. Newton 341." An oval hanging sign is not legible. A small sign over the stairway in the center reads: "Mrs. Duggan / Boarding and Lodging." Meat, including plucked chickens, hangs from the porch. A barrel is on the porch at the right. Inscribed on back: "3rd from L: William J. Burns / 4th from R: J.P. Newton, probably."
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Joel P. Newton was a wholesale meat, poultry and fish dealer at 341 Asylum Street from 1875 to 1885, when the business became Newton and Robertson, grocers. Mrs. Michael Duggan operated a boarding house at 353 Asylum Street. She moved to 345 Asylum Street in 1882. William J. Burns is listed as a marketman at 341 Asylum Street in the Hartford city directory.
