Description	A series of picking or drawing machines are arranged in rows in the interior of a large industrial building. Drive wheels and drive belts extend to the ceiling. Electric lights hang from the ceiling. Letterpress text on back reads in part: "Each machine has a number of plates and needles which act as combs. The fibers come from the combs straightened. They then wrap about the drums to the right. From these they are removed and rolled in small laps. The laps of silk can be seen on the little tables by which the women are standing..." Letterpress text beneath image: "First Drawing or Straightening of Fibres - silk / Industry (Spun Silk), So. Manchester, Conn."
