Description	Men, all wearing suits, sit at desks piled with papers. Most men have beards or mustaches and are reading or writing. Bookcases, some with glass doors line the walls. A clock is on the wall at the left. A mirror is above a shelf at the right. A light fixture, evidently a gaslight fixture converted for electricity with electric light bulbs and shades hangs from the ceiling. Another electric light hangs from a wire. Inscribed on mount: "United States Patent Office. April 1892. / Examiner of Surgery, Sacks and his Assistants. Room 153 / 1. See back side. 2. Wyrengarth [?] of Chicago (Atty. Bro. Of [illegible] submitting an amendment / 3. Atty. Bond of Ohio arguing case with Asst. [?] / Lightfoot (no. 4) of Virginia / 5. Dr. J.J. Darby of Connecticut, ranking Asst. - / 6. Asst. R.M. McKee of New York / 7. Asst. W. T. Hutchinson of D.C. / 8. Asst. Norwood of North Carolina / 9. Docket Clerk Johnson of D.C. / Type Writer Burch of D.C." Inscribed on back: "This was intended for Examiner Wilkinson, / an aged paralytic of about 80. / The stretcher on which he was brought to the office and his crutches are out in the hall."
