Description	A man sits in a chair at a desk in an office reading a piece of paper. A telephone, an electric lamp and papers are on the desk. A rug is on the floor. A bookcase is full of books. Pictures hang on the wall, including a panorama of Bushnell Park, the Connecticut State Capitol and the Soldiers and Sailors' Monument. Inscribed on back: "Charles Edward Gross / in law office."
Notes	Charles E. Gross is first listed as an attorney in Hartford in 1875 when he joined the firm of Waldo, Hubbard & Hyde at 2 Central Row. The firm later became Gross, Hyde & Shipman and finally Gross, Gross & Hyde, located at one time at 49 Pearl Street.
