Description	Small boys and girls stand in front of a frame building, presumably a school. The girls wear dresses with high waists, short sleeves, and wide necklines. One girl at the left wears an apron and carries a bonnet. A girl standing in the doorway at the right is putting on her bonnet. the boys wear suits with short jackets and pants, similar to skeleton suits. They also wear top hats and appear to be wearing vests and collars with ruffles. A boy in the background is chasing a butterfly. A house, a fence, trees and hills are in the distance. Signed in plate: "N. Jocelin Sc. 1813." Inscribed in plate: "The bearer [Mr. Harvey Baldwin] receives this as a token of the praise [he] merits for h[is] faithfulness and good behavior in school; from h[is] teacher. [Andrew Beard , Jr., Preceptor.] [Milford, March 22, 1815]." The words in brackets are hand-written and have been inserted into the printed inscription.<br>
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger.<br>This print served as a reward of merit.<br>Nathaniel Jocelyn was born in New Haven in 1796 and died there in 1881. He was trained as an engraver, but became dissatisfied, and gave up engraving to become a portrait painter in 1820.<br>
