Description	Red wool coat has blue front facings, collar, and cuffs, and a flared skirt. The coat front opening is cut with a curve and closes with just one hook and eye. There are many decorative and non-functioning buttons and buttonholes. The coat is lined with plain wool and cotton .
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger . This coat was worn by Munson Hoyt (d.1805) of Norwalk, Connecticut as part of his officer's uniform with the Prince of Wales's Loyalist regiment during the American Revolutionary War. Hoyt served as a lieutenant in the regiment from 1777 to 1783. The regiment was organized in Middletown, Conn., during the summer of 1776. The high quality of the coat suggests production in England. It is a rare surviving example of an American Revolutionary War military officer's uniform coat from a Tory regiment . Gift of Henry L. Mills .
