Description	In the foreground, men stand on a dirt street looking at a raging flood. One man holds a lantern. Trunks, a suitcase, furniture and bundles are nearby. A man with a whip drives a wagon drawn by two galloping horses. Other men run behind the wagon. Debris, including a small building, apparently a house, is in the foaming water. The water engulfs a large building with a cupola at the left. Trees and hills are in the background. Storm clouds are in the sky. Letterpress text beneath image: "Connecticut - Bursting of the Staffordville Reservoir, March 27th - Progress of the Flood down the Valley - Sketched by Harry Ogden."<br>
Notes	The Staffordville reservoir on the east branch of the Willimantic River belonged to the United Manufacturing Companies. It burst on March 27, 1877 after heavy rains following a long dry spell. <br>
