Description	At the far left is a two-story house with a porch. Outbuildings at the right include a chicken coop and chickens. Two large barns have weathervanes, one in the shape of a cow. A second house with a cupola and a porch appears to be constructed of stone. Smoke issues from a chimney at the rear. Young trees and what may be nursery plants grow behind a brick wall. A picket fence with lattice gates is at the left. A man drives a wagon loaded with logs drawn by three horses. A dog runs in the street. A horse-drawn carriage is at the right. Inscribed in stone beneath image: "Residences of Stephen Hoyt & Sons / Wholesale & Retail Nurserymen, New Canaan, Conn. / Nursery Established in 1848. About One Hundred Acres in Cultivation for Nursery purposes."<br>
