Description	View of an industrial plant identified as "J. Cotterell's/Machine Shop", Pistol Point, Mystic. Apparently taken from a rooftop of upper-level window looking out over rooftops.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Possibly a view of Mystic Iron Works. Mystic Iron Works, 1862-1873, was headed by Joseph O. Cottrell and David D. Mallory. The company manufactured and fitted engines and boilers for vessels. Its boom period was during and immediately after the Civil War when it fitted and refitted a number of vessels. The company also built one vessel, the iron-hulled screw towboat Montaines. Probably taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913. Mounted on white card, square corners, 3 1/4 x 6 3/4 in.
