Description	View from Fort Rachel looking north along Water Street. A number of houses and other structures can be seen. The D. O. Richmond boatyard is on the right. The Lyman Dudley blacksmith shop is in the middle distance.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. David O. Richmond established his yard along Water Street in the late 1860's. He had started out as a ship carpenter and gained a reputation as a designer and builder of smaller vessels. He had a long working relationship with Charles Henry Mallory. Richmond's boatbuilding business endured into the early twentieth century. Blacksmith Lyman Dudley was an extremely successful Mystic businessman. His shop employed as many as five men engaged in shipfitting and other ironwork. He was part owner of the Mystic River bridge before it was sold to Groton and Stonington, and also of a number of vessels. Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913.
