Description	Starboard view of four-masted schooner Quinnebaug, November 1903. at launching. On lower left is printed:" C. H. PEASE, PUBLISHER, CANAAN, CONN." Handwritten in ink is "QUINNIBAUGH [sic] 1903 (Nov. 6) / M.B. Mc Donald Yard, Pistol Point". Beneath view of schooner is printed "LAUNCHING AT MYSTIC"; in right margin is printed "Mystic, /Conn."
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Quinnebaug was launched in November 1903, reportedly the first four-masted schooner with no topmasts. Built to carry lumber, she was lost with all hands on her second voyage in 1904. Shipbuilder Michael B. McDonald had worked in Madison, New London and Noank before launching M.B. McDonald & Sons on Pistol Point in Mystic, which he operated from 1903 to 1905. The firm built ten coasting schooners and a barge in this time period before going into bankruptcy in 1905. The loss of the Quinnebaug and another McDonald-built vessel may have played a part in the company's financial troubles.
