Description	A man stands in front of a whale skeleton that appears to be on display on a hillside. A building with a sign reading "PRIVATE-M_SEUM" is partially visible to the left. Caption at top reads: "Skeleton of Whale. Captured in Hudson Bay in 1879,/from Schooner 'Era,'/John O. Spicer, Master./Jaw bones 18 feet long,/Full length estimated 90 feet./Mounted by Chas. Q. Eldredge,/Old Mystic, Conn., 1919."
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Charles Q. Eldredge (born 1845) was an Old Mystic native who in 1917 founded a private museum of curiosities that was located on the Groton side of the Mystic River in the Old Mystic area. The whaling schooner Era was captained by John O. Spicer of Mystic. Postcard made by E.C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee, Wisc., #23065. On reverse is handwritten note dated Feb. 3, 1925, from Eldredge to Asheville Post Card Co., Asheville, NC; rubberstamped "NEW P. O. ADDRESS,/ MYSTIC, CONN./ R.F.D." Black and white postcard with sky painted blue.
