Description	View of a house at the corner of streets identified as Main Street and Eldredge Ave. The house has a gable roof and shutters. Visible in the background is a large church building with two towers. Printed below the picture to the left: "Residence of/ Mrs. John D./ Eldredge, cor-/ ner of Main/ Street and Eld-/ redge Avenue." followed by explanatory paragraph reading "The First Baptist Church of Groton,/Conn. Located at Old Mystic. This Bap-/tist Society was organized in 1705 and/ was the first in Connecticut. this is their/ fourth house of worship and was dedi-/cated in 1867. They had the first par-sonage in America, and in their early/days three ministers--a father, son, and/grandson, preached for them 125 years./This record is unequalled in the world./In 1875 the Church had a membership of 296.
