Description	Studio portrait of a man in military uniform, possibly Amos Clift, Jr. He has a beard and is wearing a sword. His left hand holds the hilt of his sword. His right arm rests on a table on which his hat is resting.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Probably copied from a carte de visite and mounted in a photo folder on which is printed: "Geo. E. Tingley/ MYSTIC/ CONN." If Amos Clift, Jr. (1818-1878), shipmaster, then the portrait is possibly a copy made by Tingley at a much later date. George E. Tingley was a noted Mystic area photographer. In his early career, he was an assistant and later sometime partner of Everett A. Scholfield. After 1894 he worked independently.
