Description	A woman in a bathing dress wades at a beach. She is identified as "Mellicent in Bathing Suit", and the location as probably New London. The bathing dress is short-sleeved, and appears to be of checked or plaid fabric with a scoop neck, puffed sleeves and belted waist. Her legs are bare and her hair is worn up in what appears to be a pompadour style. Beach houses can be seen in the background.
Notes	Possibly Ocean Beach, New London. Developed at the end of the nineteenth century and eventually served by a trolley line and steamers, Ocean Beach included private cottages, a shore dinner hall and pier. Most were destroyed by the 1938 hurricane. Negative number C16.
