sandbags

the
substantial

sail

gain
speed
without
capsizing
while
racing

Annie
raced
in
Long
Island
Sound
and
Florida
in her
early
years
and
later
became
a
working
craft
. She was
modified
and
rebuilt
at
various
times
in her
career
.
Annie
was
donated
to
Mystic
Seaport
in
1931
by
Dr
.
C
.
K
.
Stillman
. She
remains
a
floating
exhibit
.
David
O
.
Richmond
established
his
yard
along
Water
Street
in the
late
1860's
. He had
started
out
as a
ship
carpenter
and
gained
a
reputation
as a
designer
and
builder
of
smaller
vessels
. He had a
long
working
relationship
with
Charles
Henry
Mallory
.
Richmond's
boatbuilding
business
endured
into the
early
twentieth
century
.
