is
surmounted
by the
statue
of a
soldier
standing
next
to his
rifle
,
which
rests
on the
ground
. He
holds
the
barrel
of the
rifle
with
both
hands
.
Visible
on the
side
of the
base
below
the
statue
to the
right
are a
wreath
, then the
word
"
ANTIETAM
" a
state
seal
, and an
inscription
that
reads
: "
DEDICATED
TO
THE
BRAVE
SONS
OF/
MYSTIC
WHO
OFFERED
THEIR
LIVES
FOR
THEIR/
COUNTRY,/
IN
THE
WAR
OF
THE
REBELLION./
1861
,
[sic]

. On the
adjoining
face
to the
left
, "
DRURY'S
BLUFF
"
is
carved
. An
iron
fence
is
partially
visible
around
the
monument
