Description	Gothic museum building with square towers, crenellations, mullioned windows and a porch with pointed arches. An inscription in the gable reads: "1842 / Wadsworth Atheneum." A man wearing a cap and cape and holding a cane, a woman and a small girl on the sidewalk in front of the building. A man and woman walk beside the building. Fences and trees are at left and right. A gambrel-roofed building, probably a house, is at the far right.<br>
Notes	The man in front of the building is based on a silhouette of museum founder Daniel Wadsworth in the Connecticut Historical Society. <br>The Wadsworth Atheneum, American's oldest free public art museum, was the work of the architectural firm of Town and Davis. The facade was designed by Alexander Jackson Davis and the plan by Henry Austin, who also served as the supervising architect for the project. The building was completed in 1844. <br>
