Description	View of a July 4th parade in New London. A make-believe vessel on wheels, draped with flags, is approaching in the foreground. Sign on the vessel reads:"LAST WHALERS/ OF N.L." People line the street and watch from windows above the storefronts. American flags and bunting are visible in the parade and draped on the buildings. Streetlights and utility poles can be seen along the street on the left side. Written in white at the bottom of the photo: "1917" and "JULY 4".
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten on back of frame: "Property of/E.F. GATES/Loaned to/Jibboom Club. No. 1". Handwritten on back of photo: "The Jibboom Club /"Last Whalers of N.L." E.F. (Ernest F.) Gates was a New London letter carrier involved in the Jibboom Club The Jibboom Club was a social organization for seamen founded by whaling captains in the 1870s, reorganized in 1891 and dissolved in 1959. Was originally mounted and framed with two other photographs.
