Description	Starboard view of the rudder and propeller of an unidentified vessel on the ways at Gildersleeve Ship Construction Co., Portland. A marine railway can be seen in the bottom foreground. A shoreline is visible acorss the Connecticut River in the background.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Established as S. Gildersleeve and Sons, ca. 1821, the company became Gildersleeve Shipbuilding Company in 1908. Its name was changed to Gildersleeve Ship Construction Company, ca. 1917. The company remained active until 1932, by then also building icehouses and other structures. Probably taken in the area of Portland now known as Gildersleeve. Rubber stamped on back twice: THE GILDERSLEEVE.../COLLECTION/THE MARINE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION, INC./MYSTIC, CONN." Mounted on card cut off at bottom, 8 1/4 x 12 in.
