Description	View of the sidewheel steamer City of Worcester aground off New London. A small vessel appears to be alongside her to the left. What appears to be a shoreline can be seen in the distance.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Rubber stamped on back: "Fred Nowatzky,/ 160 MAIN ST.,/ Norwich, Conn."and handwritten in pen: "City of Worcester aground" and in pencil: "Off New London, Ct/FG". The City of Worcester was one of the steamers that plied Long Island Sound, linking New York and New England cities through coordinated water and rail transport. She was part of the Norwich & New York Transportation Company fleet. This probably represents the first of two notable mishaps in her career, a January 1890 grounding on a reef off New London. She also sank in New London Harbor in May 1898. Mounted on brown card with gold beveled edge, rounded corners, 5 1/8 x 8 3/8 in.
