Description	View of houses identified as Greenmanville mill houses. All the structures visible are wood and have pitched roofs. What appears to be a crude wood fence can be seen in the foreground. Just beyond the fence, clothes are hanging on a line alongside a white house with what appears to be clapboard siding. Two smokestacks are visible in the center right background.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The area along the Mystic River on the Stonington side north of downtown Mystic was known as Greenmanville. The Greenman brothers lived and had their shipyard and mill (Greenmanville Manufacturing Company, later Mystic Manufacturing Company) in this area in the nineteenth century. There were a number of houses in Greenmanville for mill workers, including employees of Rossie Velvet Mill, which launched operations in 1898. Probably taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913.
