Description	Port view of a two-masted schooner at the upper yard of the Robert Palmer & Son shipyard, near the foot of present-day Main Street, Noank. Several people can be seen on board the vessel. A sail loft is visible in the background. A sign on the building reads "SAIL/LOFT" and "OLD SAILS/BOUGHT & SOLD".
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Palmer family's shipbuilding and repair facility, in operation from the mid-19th century until 1914, was one of the most prominent on the east coast. It was incorporated under several names and experienced substantial growth in the second half of the 19th century, specializing in the production of utilitarian barges and floats. Date based on dating of similar images. Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913.
