Description	Port view of steamer Ella under way at Norwich. Houses, many of them probably multi-family in type, can be seen on the hillside on the farther shore in the background. In the distance, on the right-hand side of the riverbank, a sign is visible that reads in part "HONEST LONG___ 5 [cent] TOBACCO".
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Ella was built by Charles Mallory & Sons of Mystic, 1864. She was chartered by the War Department during the Civil War. From 1871-1903, she ran between Norwich and Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The Charles Mallory & Sons shipyard was located on the east (Stonington) bank of the Mystic River, approximately on the site of the present duPont Preservation Shipyard at Mystic Seaport. It produced a number of sail and steam vessels from 1851 to 1875, with the Civil War period the most active. Mounted on gray card with gold beveled edges.
