Description	Wharf scene, New Bedford, Massachustts. Bow view of whaling bark Desdemona anchored at wharf. She is in need of re-sheathing and her topmasts and rigging have been removed. An unidentified wooden vessel at far left can be seen in port stern view. At far right is stern of a three-masted schooner barge, Samuel E. Spring.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Information from original envelope: "Desdemona/about 1895/ she was refitted, sent to sea/ + lost at Hudson's Bay/ coal barge/SAMUEL E. SPRING/ unloading at Garfield/ + Preston" The Desdemona was built as a ship at Middletown in 1823 and was classified as a whaling bark by 1865. She was wrecked at Rowes Welcome, Hudson's Bay in 1896. The Samuel E. Spring was built in Westbrook, Maine, 1869.
