Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Connecticut was the third Long Island Sound steamer of that name, designed by George B. Mallory and built in 1889 at Robert Palmer Shipyard in Noank for the Providence & Stonington Steamship Company. She was one of a fleet providing rail-steamboat service connecting New York and Providence and points beyond. The vessels were owned by companies ultimately controlled by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. The largest wooden-hulled vessel in Sound service, Connecticut was speedy and elegant, but proved unreliable as her oscillating steam engine was subject to breakdowns. She ended up being a relief boat. Her pilot house & front cabins below were turned into a two-story office building in Salem, Massachusetts and her hull into a barge.
