Description	Stern views of the schooners Astoria and Rachel W. Stevens moored in the Mystic River opposite the Cottrell Lumber Co., possibly after having discharged coal at the Burrows yard south of downtown Mystic on the west (Groton) side of the river. Visible on the vessels' sterns are: "ASTORIA/ PORTLAND" and "RACHEL W. STEVENS/ NEW YORK".
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. The Astoria was built at Goss & Sawyer Shipyard, Bath, Maine, 1875 and was originally ship-rigged. The Rachel W. Stevens was also built in Bath, 1898. Taken by Everett A. Scholfield, a professional photographer who worked primarily in Mystic and New London from 1865-1913.
