Description	Stern starboard view of the four-masted McDonald & Sons schooner Tifton at wharf, Mystic. Buildings can be seen along the Mystic River waterfront to the left and right of the vessel.
Notes	Title supplied by cataloger. Handwritten in pencil on back: "Mystic, Ct/Between 1903 & 1906/By Stanley H. Smith/Holden, Mass/Tifton" -" Shipbuilder Michael B. McDonald had worked in Madison, New London and Noank before launching M. B. McDonald & Sons on Pistol Point in Mystic, which he operated from 1903 to 1905. The firm built ten coasting schooners and a barge in this time period before going into bankruptcy in 1905. The Tifton was one of the schooners completed in 1905 under the supervision of W. J. (William J.) Baker. The Tifton was named for the Georgia town, founded by Connecticut native Henry Harding Tift, that provided much of the timber for McDonald's. She had a series of owners and foundered in January 1926 off Hillsboro Light, Florida.
